Rajinikanth denies insulting Kannadigas

Superstar Rajinikanth rejected the allegation that he had insulted Kannadigas. He was under fire from pro-Kannada outfits and political party leaders for his remarks at Hogenakkal water project hunger strike which held in Chennai — Speaking near the Chepauk cricket stadium, Rajnikanth the superstar blasted Karnataka politicians over water project issue.

He clarified that he only decried those who have been creating trouble, asking such people to be “kicked” (Odaikanum) and was not referring to all.

Kamal & Rajini: The big budget game

The whole industry is awe struck by the big budget game played by its two biggest stars. Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaga Naayagan Kamal Haasan have been tough competitors for three decades. The competition has now reached new heights with the big stars are now fighting in terms of budget and grandeur.

It was said that Rajini’s blockbuster ‘Sivaji’, produced by AVM, was made with a budget of 60 crore rupees. Oscar Ravichandran is making ‘Dasavadharam’ featuring Kamal in the lead role(s), with a budget that has said to be higher than Sivaji’s budget.

The competition has been intensified even before ‘Dasavadharam’ is released. Rajini – Shankar combination has announced ‘Robot’, to be made with 125 crore rupees. Then we heard that Kamal starrer ‘Marmayogi’, produced by Walt Disney, would have 100 crore budget. The fine print is that the expenses for the movie would shoot up as the shooting goes on and cross the budget of ‘Robot’.

While this mega competition would propel Tamil cinema into international level, there is a flip side to this race. Some feel that the budget war could discourage the small players in the industry. If big becomes the in thing, then the small would become taboo and the small players with simple ideas would be sidelined, they fear.

However, some argue that, simple and small budgeted films like ‘Chennai 6000028’ have defied the so called trends and hence there is no need to press the panic button.

125-Crore project ‘Robot’ starts rolling

Shankar’s next science fiction project ‘Robot’ started rolling amidst much fanfare yesterday. The film’s team started shooting the scenes in an air-conditioned room in AVM studio.

Director Shankar captured the superstar for the first scene of the film.

Many fans of the superstar were very eager to know the start of shooting of ‘Robot’ and within minutes of the news reaching them many fans of Rajinikanth thronged at AVM Studio to get a glimpse of the superstar.

But since the rules of AVM studio restricts the entry for the public the fans had to leave the scene disappointed.

This big-budget film sees superstar Rajinikanth and the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan  coming together for the first time ever. The film is directed by one of the most flamboyant directors of the country, Shankar, and the music of A.R. Rahman will grace the film.

Let us also inform you that Rajinikanth will soon be shooting for P. Vasu directed ‘Kuselan’ the tamil version of Malayalam super hit ‘Katha Parayumbhol’.

‘Kuselan news: Rajini’s anger

Rajini is said to be upset. He is certainly not comfortable with which the news on ‘Kuselan’ is getting leaked to press. The news saying that he was not comfortable with enhancing his role to make the movie more attractive has triggered a sort of anger in Rajini.

Reason?

Right from the beginning, anything and everything about ‘Kuselan’ goes to the press within no time. Rajini’s emotional response to the Malayalam original made the headlines. Now his reaction towards his role. He is said to have called up director P. Vasu and conveyed his discomfort over this leak.

It is rumoured that the director has made an enquiry with his assistant directors in front of the superstar. The whole unit has been made alert not to leak any information to the press before it is made official.

Biography of Superstar Rajinikanth - “Rajini Pera Kettale”

“Superstar” Rajinikanth is indeed a living legend, he is one of the most admired in India. The latest in the line is that Chennai based ophthalmologist Dr.Gayathri Shrikanth has written a biography of Superstar Rajinikanth titled “Rajini Pera Kettale” in Tamil and an English translation “The name is Rajinikant“.

Title is inspiration from the “Pera Kettaley Chumma Athirudhulla“, a punch dialogue of the superstar blockbuster movie “Sivaji“.

The book will be released on 1st March 2008 at Chennai. Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachan, Swami Dayananda Saraswathy and Tamil film personalities are participating in this event.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has written a forward to the book and Kamal Haasan has written a blessing message for the effort in the Book.

Dr. Gayathri is excited as the work has been appreciated by the superstar himself.
