The much awaited audio launch of ‘Dasavadharam’, which was scheduled to be held in March, is now postponed to April. The venue too has been changed. Earlier, producer Oscar Ravichandran planned to stage the mega show in Nehru Indoor Stadium. Now it is decided to be held at Nandanam YMCA Ground.
However, there will be no change in the grandeur of the function. The big weights from various languages would attend the function. Apart from the chief guest Jackie Chan, the superstar studded event will have Mammootty, Mohanlal, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and Amitabh Bachan. Talks are on to bring two superstars from Kannada industry. Sony Audio Company, which has bagged the audio rights, is coordinating the arrangements for the function.
The audio rights have been sold at an unprecedented rate. The amount, it is said is something, which no Tamil audio track has ever fetched.
‘Dasavadharam’ has broken the record in terms of TV channel rights as well. It has been sold at a rate of Rs. 10 lakhs higher than that of Sivaji!
Labels:Kamal Hassan,Kollywood News,Tamil NewsKamal & Rajini: The big budget game
The whole industry is awe struck by the big budget game played by its two biggest stars. Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaga Naayagan Kamal Haasan have been tough competitors for three decades. The competition has now reached new heights with the big stars are now fighting in terms of budget and grandeur.
It was said that Rajini’s blockbuster ‘Sivaji’, produced by AVM, was made with a budget of 60 crore rupees. Oscar Ravichandran is making ‘Dasavadharam’ featuring Kamal in the lead role(s), with a budget that has said to be higher than Sivaji’s budget.
The competition has been intensified even before ‘Dasavadharam’ is released. Rajini – Shankar combination has announced ‘Robot’, to be made with 125 crore rupees. Then we heard that Kamal starrer ‘Marmayogi’, produced by Walt Disney, would have 100 crore budget. The fine print is that the expenses for the movie would shoot up as the shooting goes on and cross the budget of ‘Robot’.
While this mega competition would propel Tamil cinema into international level, there is a flip side to this race. Some feel that the budget war could discourage the small players in the industry. If big becomes the in thing, then the small would become taboo and the small players with simple ideas would be sidelined, they fear.
However, some argue that, simple and small budgeted films like ‘Chennai 6000028’ have defied the so called trends and hence there is no need to press the panic button.

Kamal Haasan’s ‘Dasavatharam’ has hit headlines for various reasons. This time around it is under the focus for a special guest all the way from Japan!
‘Dasavatharam’ is a big budget film in Kollywood, next to ‘Sivaji’ that was released last year. Though the talkies part of the film was wrapped up last year in December itself, much time is being taking to complete the back ground music score and the post-production work.
The Tamil film industry is abuzz with news that the music launch of this film might take place in the month of March this year. Oscar films is producing this much-awaited flick, and the producer Oscar Ravichandran had announced a month back that the chief guest for the music launch will be none other than Jackie Chan himself.
At that time some people called this a publicity stunt by Ravi Chandran for promoting the film but the fact is that his brother, Ramesh Babu, has taken a trip to Japan to meet the famous Hollywood star.
The ‘Dasavatharam’ team is awaiting the return of Ramesh Babu who is expected to return to Chennai this week after which things can be finalized on the invite.
Sony has obtained the copy rights for the songs of ‘Dasavatharam’ and around two lakh CDs are to be released into the market. The price of one CD will be fixed at Rs. 99/-. If all goes as planned then this will be the ‘most’ costliest music CD in Tamil industry.

‘Dasavatharam’, the new film which is in the news for the last couple of years, will grace the theatres in this April. This was announced by the lead actor and the writer-director of the film Kamal Haasan, in a function that was held in Kerala a couple of days back.
On a question about the most favorite role among the ten that he portrays in the film,’ Even though I am in ten characters of this movie, the role that I like most is the eleventh one - that is the role of the scriptwriter. I always realized that good scripts are the most important factors of a good cinema. Even famous writers like M T, started writing film scripts, only after studying about cinema for a long time”, says Kamal who had released two of his film scripts in a book format, recently in Malayalam.
The famous publishing group DC books recently published scripts of two famous movies from Kamal Haasan, ‘Hey Ram (2000)’ and ‘Mahanadhi (1994)’ in Malayalam. The scripts were translated into Malayalam by K.S. Viswanathan and were titled as ‘Kamalahaasande Randu Thirakadhagal.’
“I’m touched that a highly literate neighboring state wants my works in their language. For them I’m always ‘Nammada Kamalahaasan’,” said Kamal, on the occassion. ”Some other scripts written by me will also be released in a short time. Discussions are on about the publications” informed the versatile actor.
